What? What kind of sauna is it?
Located in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture, Sauna & Capsule Inn Crest Matsudo is just a one-minute walk from JR Matsudo Station.
It’s a 24-hour sauna and capsule hotel.
As soon as you exit the west exit of Matsudo Station, you can see it.
Its feature is the open-air bath, recreating the famous hot spring of Osarubetsu, Hokkaido.
The scent of cypress drifts through, and this open-air bath satisfies even those who come just for the bath with a 120% satisfaction level!

The secluded “Futamata Calcium Hot Spring” in Osarubetsu, Hokkaido, located upstream of the Futamata River, became known to spa visitors from all over the country since the late Meiji period. Its huge travertine dome, a natural deposit, is one of only two in the world, the other being in Yellowstone (USA).

Water Ceremony Sauna

Every few minutes, water and light pour over the aromatic stones in the stove, generating a pleasant heat and steam throughout the sauna. It’s a healing sauna with less tingling sensation and significant sweating action.
Self-Löyly Sauna
You can pour water on the sauna stones yourself.

I often use the Water Ceremony Sauna first.
Being close to the stove, you can strongly (maybe?) feel the heat of the water poured over the aromatic stones.
The cold bath is usually around 16-17 degrees (it used to be around 20 degrees, but the temperature dropped at some point).
For some reason, I feel most at ease in this sauna.

Special Events and Relaxation for Sauna Enthusiasts
At Sauna & Capsule Inn Crest Matsudo, special events are held regularly.
One of the highlights is the löyly performance by the legend Yu-san, who has won the second prize twice in a row at the Nekketsu Koushien.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen this advertisement. It gets super crowded during events.
I myself refresh at this sauna once a week.
After the sauna, the classic “Oropo.”
The rest area is equipped with a wide variety of manga, perfect for relaxing after the sauna.
Yes, this facility is compact but covers all the essentials.
It’s wonderful, and though it would take long to explain, I think it reaches those itchy spots everywhere.
Other Sauna Facilities in Matsudo City
In Matsudo City, apart from Sauna & Capsule Inn Crest Matsudo, there are many other attractive sauna facilities.
