What if you were to bring a famous Matsudo sweet to an acquaintance?
In the previous ‘If Matsu 1,’ I introduced ‘Eisendo Okamatsu,’ a traditional Japanese confectionery shop established 104 years ago, located 7-minute walk from Matsudo Station.
Yesterday, while writing the article, I craved it again, so I, the author whose nearest station is Matsudo Station, took a walk around Matsudo’s Tojo-tei and then went back home after buying my favorite Japanese sweets.
Matsudo’s famous confectionery “Yagiri no Watashi-bune” and others
At Okamatsu, introduced yesterday, or at another store, such as Wagashi Hogetsu, a 3-minute walk from Matsudo’s west exit, you can buy wagashi with names associated with Matsudo!
I bought about 6 total today. All are Good Taste!
Names associated with Matsudo
As you can see from the photo, each wagashi reflects feelings and the history of Matsudo!
Tojo no Ume → from the Tojo Residence, a 15-minute walk from Matsudo Station
Sukuyaru – Ka from the “Sukuyaru Section” of the city hall, the only one of its kind in Japan
When I was a junior high school student in Matsudo, I had an experience of working in the ” Suguyaru Section” as part of my work experience.
The department solved a wide range of citizen’s problems, such as exterminating beehives and cleaning gutters near parks.
From ” Yagiri no Watashi Boat ” to “Yagiri no Watashi” (ferry boat)
Of course, the taste is good, but I like the name and the beautiful design that has a “Matsudo-like” feel to it!
I hope you will consider Matsudo’s famous sweets as a candidate for souvenirs for people outside the city!

About Matsu-Neko Guide
Matsuneko Guide is a website where the author, a cat lover, attempts to introduce in multiple languages about Matsudo, where I was born and raised!
I am trying to look at the good things about Matsudo so that my daughter, who was born here, will also like Matsudo as a lovely town!
